Final Year Project
Project Title
Life on the Roads - Street Children of Pakistan
Description
Around 1.2 to 1.5 million children are on the streets of the major cities of Pakistan. My thesis aims to examine their existing living conditions. It first delves into the notion of childhood that has been distorted with the advent of modernity. My research studies the lived experience of street children in Karachi. It also incorporates the government’s role by looking at the existing laws for child protection. I use the infamous case of Javed Iqbal as an important reference point for my research.
